A writer lives in the world he has created on paper. Anything he thinks or speaks about other than his words on paper are extraneous fluff. An integral part of who a writer is and what he chooses as subject matter is his perception of his environment and the people who populate it. When I begin a novel, my characters are strangers who don’t have essence. They develop into real people as the story progresses, and at some point, always a surprise to me, they take over the reins and pretty much tell me to get out of the way, it’s their story now.

I’m biased against those who indulge themselves in the oily pit of corruption. I guess that makes me a curmudgeon, but every day I see the awful results of greed on those of us who play by the rules.

I served in the Marine Corps as a young man, although I’m not a combat veteran. I like writing about Marines, both male and female. My life as a husband, father and twin has been an exceptional blessing.
