JOSEPH CHARLES MOURHESS

Joseph C. Mourhess served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. He started living in Japan in 1968 and did so for approximately 20 years while being married to a Japanese woman. They had one daughter born in Yokohama. He studied Japanese through the University of Maryland's overseas Extension program along with daily help from his wife and countless hours of self-study. Throughout the year's Joseph has taught English to Japanese children along with adults and Japanese U.S military base employees. He has also taught American military personal Japanese in his free time. For the past 18 years, he has been living in Thailand.
