Susan McMullen

Recycle, reuse, repurpose and be responsible for impacts you may have to our fragile environment are all important to me and the work I do. My artwork incorporates many different types of recycled materials in their creation. I am a native Floridian and have lived, all except for 1 month of my life, in North Florida. My parents adopted me and brought me to Tallahassee in November of 1967. I was blessed to be able to attend all my school years at the same school, K-12. The Florida State University Developmental Research School, aka Florida High is where I would grow up and make life-long friends. I went on to graduate from Florida State in 1991 with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, after receiving my AA from North Florida Junior College in Madison, FL and also Commercial Art Certification from Lively Vocational Technical School in Tallahassee. After leaving classroom teaching in 2010, I began working on Florida State's campus in 2012. Currently, I am a full-time employee in University Housing, Residential Student Experience. I am married with two children, David and Hannah, who are in their twenties, David working towards his own degree and Hannah recently graduating from Brown University with 2 degrees!. My husband David and I have been married for 30 years. We are best friends and love to go on outdoor adventures. We love the water and nature, spending as much time kayaking, hiking, snorkeling and camping as we can. Art and writing have always been a part of my life. Trying to sow positive seeds in life is my goal. My husband and children are my world. I hope I make them proud.
