Mark R Beckner

Mark Beckner is best known for his time with the Boulder Police Department from 1978 to 2014. He rose through the ranks to become Boulder’s police chief in 1998 and remained in that position until his retirement in 2014. Chief Beckner is recognized for his leadership in turning around a department in turmoil and taking command of the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation in late 1997.

He now enjoys retirement and has turned his attention toward writing fictional crime dramas. He uses his unique experience and insights to add realism to his suspense-filled stories. Feedback and reviews of his books, Behind the Lies, Death From Desire, Naked Evidence, Silent Waters, Cactus View Book Club, Hidden Bones, and Candy Man Killer, have been positive. His fourth book, Silent Waters, takes place in the town where he worked, Boulder, Colorado. The book Cactus View Book Club is set in a retirement community in Surprise, AZ, where Mark and his wife Sally spend the winter months. Mark's sixth novel, Hidden Bones, takes place in Swartz Creek, Michigan, the town where he attended high school. His latest and seventh novel is Candy Man Killer. This story takes place in Chicago and was originally published as a short story in Behind the Lies. It has been rewritten as a full-length novel. Readers will enjoy following the action, suspense, and drama in each story.

Mark still lives in Colorado with his wife Sally, but they become snowbirds in winter, traveling to their second home in Surprise, Arizona. They have two children, Kimberlee and Chad, as well as five grandchildren. When he is not writing crime thrillers, Mark enjoys his family, traveling, bicycling, photography, and playing softball and pickleball.
