Phoebe Wyss

Phoebe was born on March 4th,1941 at 4pm in Redhill, Surrey. She attended St John's primary school and later Reigate County School. After passing her A Levels she studied for a B.A. in English Literature and Philosophy at Reading University, and stayed on after completing it to write a thesis on William Blake for an M.A. degree. Then, after marrying a Swiss fellow student, Urs Wyss, she accompanied him to Germany where she took a job as a lecturer in English at Hanover University. Astrology, however, had always been her passion and in 1975 she began to study it seriously. By 1980 she felt confident enough to give consultations and teach it to beginners alongside her university lecturing, and this continued until 1985 when she finally left university life to become a full-time astrologer.

Between 1980 and 1996 she built up a practice in Hannover, and later in Kiel, counselling clients and teaching astrology classes. She also travelled to other towns in Germany when invited to give talks and hold workshops. In 1986 she brought out her astrological board game ‘Lebensrad’, and the book ‘Die Aufgaben des Herkules’ (Burk Verlag).1993 saw the publication of a second board game,‘Die Wendeltreppe’ and ‘Das Orakelbuch’ (Burk Verlag). In 1997, after her divorce, she returned to England, and since then has been working as an astrologer based in Brighton and Hove.

In 2007 she published her first book in English ‘Hercules’ Labours: the Evolutionary Path round the Zodiac’ (Treetongue) an improved and updated version of ‘Die Aufgaben des Herkules’. And this was followed in 2008 by a fictional treatment of the twelve astrological archetypes designed as an experiential aid for beginners - ‘Virtual Lives: the Animated Zodiac’ (Treetongue). Her latest book 'Inside the Cosmic Mind: Archetypal Astrology and the new Cosmology' (Floris Books, August 2014) offers an explanation of how astrology works from the perspective of cutting-edge scientific ideas and ancient cosmology. All her books and games were created as part of her 'mission' to spread the appreciation and understanding of astrology more widely, seeing it as a most valuable resource and tool for living.

In addition she is a meditator on the Osho path; she holds a qualification in counselling, and is a qualified past-life regression therapist. In 2003 she married her second husband, John Kapp. She has a son who is an academic in Germany and a daughter who is a film maker and lives in Barcelona, who, together, have given her one grandson and three granddaughters.
