Tom Hicks

A graduate in Modern Languages from St Catherine's College, Oxford and a teacher of almost twenty years, Tom Hicks had a long career as a minor counties cricketer with Dorset, having won four Blues and being the last first-class captain of Oxford University at Lord's, in 2000. His debut book - Bowler's Name? - tells the story of his cricket career as he rubbed shoulders with some of the greats of the modern era and offers musings on aspects of the game from being twelfth man, facing 90mph bowling and what it's like to toss up at the Home of Cricket. Hicks moved to Hong Kong with his family in 2020 and is working on a book detailing his experience of moving to China at a time of political interest during the global pandemic. He also writes poetry and children's fiction.
