Professor Kaplan is a recognized scholar in AI, digital transformation, and disruptive innovation. A widely reported Stanford study has identified him as one of the world’s most-cited and influential scientists. His work has received more than 75,000 Google Scholar citations and has been published by Cambridge, Columbia, Harvard, and Oxford University Press. His landmark article, “Users of the World, Unite!”, defines social media and has repeatedly ranked as the most downloaded article among more than 20 million publications on Elsevier’s ScienceDirect.
With nearly two decades of executive experience as a serial dean, president, and rector, Kaplan is a recognized futurist in higher education. At ESCP Business School, he held leadership roles across its six European campuses in Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, Turin, and Warsaw. As President of Kühne Logistics University, he has led its expansion to Bogotá, Ho Chi Minh City, and Johannesburg. He began his academic career at ESSEC Business School and Sciences Po Paris.
Kaplan studied at ENA, ESCP, HEC Paris, Kellogg, the Sorbonne, and the universities of Cologne and Munich.
