Satira Streeter Corbitt

Dr. Satira Streeter Corbitt, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Founder of Ascensions Psychological Services, a non-profit organization located in Washington, DC. She is a 1997 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Wilberforce University and a 2001 graduate of The Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology (Norfolk State, Old Dominion, Eastern Virginia Medical School, and the College of William & Mary) where her concentration was family therapy. She has vast experience in working with individuals and couples and has specialized in teaching and implementing effective, culturally responsive techniques in therapy.

"Black Genius" for is the cumulation of a three-year project that began after Dr. Streeter Corbitt’s search for guided journals specifically for her African-American therapy clients proved to be fruitless. It is a compilation of daily Black facts, affirmations, writing prompts, and questions designed to peak the curiosity of children and lead them to embark upon deeper research about their rich, meaningful history. Proceeds from Black Genius support therapeutic programs for African American families at Ascensions.
