Heather Small grew up on a beautiful farm in Idaho (which she did not appreciate nearly enough!) She always wanted to write a book, but never considered children's books until her son gave her an idea that became "The Purple Monster and a Very Old Bed." She loves to spend time outdoors (hiking and horseback riding), as well as writing, teaching, and drawing.

She loves to teach, and especially teaching early reading to children. She has a Master’s degree in special education.
