Life is full of change… how we react to it is up to us.

After 24 years in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building industry, mainly in Information Technology, the office and plant where I worked closed. All work was redirected to another facility. Each person who worked there was given a choice: move and continue working with the organization, or close this chapter of your life and start a new one. Moving was a possibility, even if it was not what anyone wanted to do. I just wasn’t sure what I would be moving for. How would it improve our lives? In order to continue to move up in job responsibility, we would have to be mobile. Possibly moving every couple of years. Not to mention, there was no guarantee of success.

With a beautiful wife and 3 young children on my mind, I found myself wanting to do something… more. Nervous about losing the security of steady employment, but fearful of missing out on an opportunity to do something more fulfilling. I chose to start a new chapter, one with real meaning behind it. A new chapter where I take the risk to do something new. I am okay with failing. I am not okay with the regret of not trying.

I’m not sure where we find our motivation, sometimes from in our dreams maybe. Sometimes from simply observe the ones around us, and in my case, my little ones around us. One thing is for sure, when something strikes you, and instills in you that this is what you need to do… it won’t leave you. It stays with you, changing ever so slightly, redefining what it is you need to do. I am to write. Write stories for my children. Teach them through stories that will hopefully continue to live on even after I’m gone. If I am lucky, others may take an interest and benefit from the stories as well.

I'm happy to have found new employment, where I work remotely from home, and I could not be happier with my new team. I will continue to write, as I feel like I owe it to my kids. I hope that this is just the beginning.
