Ron has been a practicing attorney since 1983 and a physical therapist since 1977. He served 20 years in the military, from the Vietnam War through Operation Desert Storm, and retired as an Army Major. In addition to his ongoing faculty appointments at MedBridge Education (Seattle) and the University of Texas Health Science Center (Medical Spanish), Ron is an attorney-mediator and ethicolegal consultant, focusing on criminal, healthcare, employment, family, collegial and community dispute mediation, principally through the Bexar County Justice Center, San Antonio, where he was honored with a Distinguished Service Award in December 2020. Ron is a past member and Chair of the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Ethics & Judicial Committee. His experience as a writer and editor spans from 1982 to the present. Ron has authored 15 texts, most recently A Comprehensive Guide to Geriatric Rehabilitation, 3rd ed. (with Kauffman T, Barr J and Moran M) (2015) (Chinese translated edition 2024) and Legal, Ethical and Practical Aspects of Patient Care Documentation, 4th ed. (2013). Ron is a principal contributor to APTA’s four Law and Ethics in Physical Therapy monographs & authored a monograph for the Section on Orthopedics titled Management of Auto Injuries: Legal and Documentation Perspectives. His debut novel (1 in a series of 3) on Amazon Kindle (March 21, 2021) is titled Privileges & Immunities: Tale of A Military Trial. Its sequel, Liberty and Justice For ...., was published in June 2024, and follows the main characters from military service into civilian life. The conclusion to this thriller series, A New World, was published on November 24, 2025. Ron was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA before entering military service at age seventeen. He is married to María Josefa Barba Garcés (Pepi)(author of Inside Pepi's Kitchen, An Andalusian Treasure, 2021), from Puerto de Santa María, in the Bay of Cádiz, Spain. They have two sons, Ron Jr. and Paul, a daughter-in-law, Paul's wife, Amanda, and 3 grandchildren, Isabel, Jonas and Marlee. Ron and Pepi live in Cibolo, Texas, USA, and love to travel and learn.
