Dr. Jenny Koo is a board-certified pediatrician with a subspecialty focus in neonatology, caring for premature and critically ill newborns and supporting families through the NICU journey. Through her books, Dr. Koo combines her medical expertise with storytelling to help children and families better understand medical experiences in a gentle, reassuring way.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Koo’s passions include art, music, travel, and all things adorable—especially the lovable characters Hamilton the Pig and Eleanor the Bunny.
Hamilton and Eleanor were first imagined while Dr. Koo reflected on her relationship with her husband, who is also her best friend. Hamilton is fun-loving and a little clumsy, while Eleanor is thoughtful, caring, and always looking out for her friend—mirroring the balance that inspires their stories.
Their adventures began as travel companions alongside Dr. Koo and her husband and were shared with a growing community on Instagram (@barnbudscompany). As their fan base grew, Dr. Koo partnered with Dr. Evans to create the first books in the Hamilton and Eleanor children’s series.
Dr. Koo continues to expand the world of Hamilton and Eleanor through both travel-themed stories and an upcoming medical children’s book series. These books are designed to help young readers understand experiences such as visiting the doctor, having a sibling in the hospital, and navigating the NICU—making complex medical moments more approachable for children and families.
