Dee, though born and raised in Nebraska, has been privileged to travel the world and live in many different states and countries with her US Army officer husband--the Azores, Portugal being one of the most interesting. Always a reader, especially of American history, she connected with the Civil War while living in Virginia. Every weekend meant another trip into the past. From First Manassas and Appomattox to Devils Den in Gettysburg, Pa, she's visited every battle site. Especially interested in the personal accounts of those who lived through the conflict, her first novel, Carolina Road, reflects the courage she found exhibited by these brave men and women. In today's pandemic as we see history repeating itself, heroic individuals are coming to the forefront everyday. When not writing, Dee enjoys nature walks with her Cairn Terrier, Zoe, volunteering her Master-Gardening skills to supply vegetables to local food banks, traveling, and visiting her six grandchildren.
