Adrienne is a graduate of North Carolina Central University where she studied Mass Communications/Journalism. While in college, Adrienne served as a reporter for the campus newspaper, The Campus Echo and a community newspaper, The Durham Voice. However, her passion for writing started in middle school where she journaled her thoughts daily.
Adrienne has a strong passion in mentoring youth on the topic of positive self-esteem and self-image. Since high school, she has volunteered and interned with several non-profits such as Durham's Partnership for Children and The Boys & Girls Club. Through personal life experiences and working with youth, Adrienne wanted to combine her two passions and create something that would positively impact generations to come. Thus, The Beauty in Me was born!
In a world that relentlessly pressures you to be and look "perfect" or to uphold this unattainable standard of "beauty," Adrienne wanted to promote positive self-esteem and self-image in children at an early age, and to simply let them know that they are perfect just the way they are! Confidence is a vital seed that should be planted early so that as the child grows...so does the seed.
