Welton was born in a one room coal mining camp in Affinity WV and moved to NJ in 1961. He attended the same high school as Cindy Birdsong, of the Supremes and Leon Huff of Phila. International. In 1968 after returning from a high security job in the Bahamas, he was selected for the first group of Martin Luther King Scholars at Glassboro State College. In 1981 he started as a Bellhop at the Playboy Hotel Casino, and was even featured in the in-house video with the Smothers Brothers. Several positions in the industry followed and in 1987 was recruited from Resorts International to join the team at Tropicana. Several promotions followed, leading to Executive Director of Quality Assurance for Service. It was during this time that his coworkers coined the phrase, Weltonisms, to describe the unique and often humorist expressions he used to teach a lesson or make a point. He was advised to start keeping track since they flowed so naturally, His Godmother told him, "Start writing them down and someday you will have a book" - That book is now, "Weltonisms: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Problems. Over 500 sayings, rich in great advice, humor and wisdom. Welton's goal is to add value to people's life, I think he hit a home run!!
