After leaving drama school I joined the news team at BBC North and stayed there for ten years, which was amazing. I went into the etiquette field in 2005 and devised the first finishing school for gentlemen in a castle in Scotland. I now teach Public speaking, international etiquette, social skills and confidence building in China, the Middle East, India, Africa, Russia, Iran and Uzbekistan, as well in Europe and the UK. I have worked with MPs from the House of Commons and House of Lords as well as Senators in The States of Jersey (Channel Islands) Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago and Kenya as well as members of Middle Eastern Royal Families. I was also a founder member and a presenter at Signal Radio which was a fantastic experience. I have had a wonderful life, despite many ups and downs and the older I get the more I think life should always be fun! My advice in my book ‘A Recipe for Life’ is to try new things, meet new people and make the most of every moment. It’s never too late - I was 70 when I appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe in ‘The Etiquette Show - Much ado about Everything' with my great friend and colleague, William Hanson, and a year older when I was part of the commentary team at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for BBC Radio 5 Live, and I still have lots of things on my bucket list! My next book will be titled ‘It’s Never Too Late’ because it never is. I do hope you will enjoy reading some of my work and I want to say a big thank you if you have already done so.
