Derek Smith

Derek Smith's 13th book, Gallica's Thorns, was released in March 2025 by Cushing Publishing. It is his fourth novel. His most recent nonfiction work, Revolutionary Camden - South Carolina's Bloody Epicenter in the War of Independence, debuted in October 2024 from McFarland Publishing. His third novel, Golf Widows, debuted in spring 2024, released by Cushing Publishing. A graduate of Georgia Southern University, Derek has written extensively on the American Civil War and is a native of Bishopville, S.C. A former newspaper journalist, he is a nationally known painter, some of his unique artworks shown in his photo.
