Trish Sullivan Vanni, PhD is a priest of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion and the pastoral director of the Charis Ecumenical Catholic Community. She serves as a consultant to parishes, professional groups and parachurch ministries in the areas of formation for ministry and mission development. She teaches as an adjunct professor of theology in an undergraduate and seminary setting.

Trish acted as publisher and acquisition editor for two Catholic publishing houses, and was the Executive Director of the Emerging Models of Pastoral Ministry project. For five years, she was the director of The Leaven Center, a non-profit ministry center that addressed multiple aspects of Catholic parish ministry vitality. A particular point of focus was identifying and/or developing models for effective collaborative leadership. Emphasis was placed on gathering the “best practices” of ministry and the education of ministry professionals in new approaches via workshops, talks, newsletters, website and more. She has worked extensively in parishes an dioceses, and as an instructor and large group facilitator for national groups including NALM, NOCERCC and the Pastoral Summit.

She has been published in a variety of periodicals, including Church and Pastoral Liturgy magazines.

Prior to entering ministry, Trish was president of Sullivan Communications, a marketing and communication firm serving clients in the information industry. Her work received numerous awards for excellence from professional groups and she was a regular speaker in key industry gatherings. Former clients included Dow Jones & Co., America Online, Knight-Ridder, Merrill Lynch, USWEST, Bell Atlantic, Merck, Sony and many others.

Trish received a Master of Divinity degree at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota and an interdisciplinary PhD from the Graduate Theological Union focused on ecclesiology, liturgical theology and organizational leadership theory.

She lives in Eden Prairie, MN with her sculptor husband Peter, two senior citizens calico cats and a neurotic rescue do. She is blessed by her three adult children, Nora, Justin and Mairead, and is excited to be welcoming future son-in-law Hank.
