Hello, I'm Jan and I'm a writer, researcher and lecturer. In the past I have worked for GCHQ and Chatham House; I was a government librarian for many years. I'm very interested in social history and the Home Front and I enjoy research. I have compiled a number of biographies of those who died, both civilian and military, during the Second World War and find exploring their lives fascinating. My first book was "Send More Shrouds: the V1 Attack on the Guards' Chapel 1944"; my mother lost several friends there and I wanted to discover more about the raid and its consequences. My second book,"The Terror Raids of 1942: the Baedeker Blitz" explores the raids on five historic cities: Exeter, Bath, Norwich, York and Canterbury and includes first hand accounts of the attacks.
I am now working on my third book for Pen & Sword: "The V1 Flying Bomb Campaign 1944: the Doodlebug Summer".
