Jill Batty lives near the sea in New Zealand. She loves to write, dabble in acrylics, and travel.

Her children’s picture books were driven by the arrival of her grandchildren. Edward Mouse developed with the arrival of a tenacious mouse who moved in with her and wouldn’t leave.

Zeb, a young zebra who changed his name to Pedro, the hero of both Zeb’s Search and Pedro’s Dilemma takes a look at the question of identity, how important names are to our self-worth, and issues around authority figures.

When not writing children’s stories, Jill creates fiction, sometimes with a Regency flavor, occasionally fantasy and most often involving romance. She also writes poetry and belongs to writing and poetry groups.
