Vickery Turner

Vickery Turner began her career as a journalist on a South London newspaper, and then combined writing plays for BBC Television with acting and theatre, winning two awards for her role as Sandy in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, starring opposite Vanessa Redgrave. It was her part in Granada TV’s The Good Soldier by Ford Maddox Ford that inspired her to write her first novel, Focusing (Gollancz), which was followed by Lovers of Africa (aka Love and Hunger in the US) (Gollancz and Dutton), The Testimony of Daniel Pagels (Little Brown, Scribners and Warner Books), and Delicate Matters (Little Brown, Black Swan and Alibaba Vertag in Germany) Lovers of Africa and Delicate Matters were both serialised and read on BBC radio. The Testimony of Daniel Pagels has been adapted for the screen. Lost Heir is Vickery’s fifth novel, and is published posthumously.
