April K Shepherd

April K. Shepherd is an emerging children's book author and the owner of Priceless Purpose Publishing. Disappointed with the lack of black children's books available, and seeing how hard it was to find books for her baby girl with characters that looked like her, April decided to put her gift of writing to work and founded Priceless Purpose Publishing. She decided to take on the challenge of bridging the gap in diversity and inclusion, to give her daughter and other children around the world the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the characters and storylines that can help shape and save their lives.

April's children's book projects are her way of providing literature that can assist children with identifying and communicating about the emotions and feelings that, when left unaddressed or unnoticed, can lead to child suicide. Through her campaign "Keeping Kids S.A.F.E from Suicide" (S.A.F.E = Stopping Adolescents from Feeling Expendable), April aims to be an advocate for saving children through literature, one book at a time.

April also provides Group Publishing Training through her online digital course "System for Self-Publishing" to teach aspiring children's book authors how to transition from "ideation" to "publication" without the hardship and guess work of learning the self-publishing process alone. April also provides "Done for You" publishing services. She vows to teach as many aspiring children's book authors as she can how to self-publish and OWN their works!

A native of Washington DC, April holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of the District of Columbia and is a CEO, Publishing Pioneer and Entrepreneur.
