A J MARSHALL
About Andrew Marshall:
Andrew was born in South Wales but grew up in the London area. As a teenager, he joined the Royal Navy where he studied aeronautical engineering before transferring to flying duties. He flew both helicopters and aeroplanes and recalls his best years as a Search and Rescue pilot in the west of England. After leaving the military he joined the airlines, gaining experience in a variety of sectors. Andrew then went on to fly corporate jets, which he did for nineteen years before recently retiring. He flew the Dassault Falcon 7X long range business jet – arguably the world's most advanced commercial aircraft – for ten years, flying all over the world. The view, whilst heading west at 47,000 feet one early summer's evening with the curvature of the Earth clearly visible ahead and shadows of the Giza pyramids below, inspired "The Osiris Revelations" first in his "Kalahari" series of sci-fi novels. During his aviation career he lived in a variety of countries including Switzerland, Mauritius, USA, China and Hong Kong.
Andrew began his literary career more than twenty years ago writing short stories and drama; science fiction, however, remains his primary genre, which he is now able to do full-time. Andrew has also recently completed the screenplay for an exciting nine episode TV drama based on his 'Kalahari Series' of novels. The working title for this series is 'Marstone'.
Andrew's love of aviation, space and science reflects in his work, where his novels have been described as "science fiction at its most believable". He completed his acclaimed, five-book "Kalahari" series with the publication of "Rogue Command" in September 2011, and is now working on the third book of his new series, which is entitled "First Colony - Quantum".
