I worked in child protective services for 34 years, mostly as a juvenile court investigator. Faith helped me be a better social worker. My latest book is Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John: A Court Investigator Examines the Gospels. Whether you are a devout person or a skeptic, I think you will enjoy reading about the gospels in a new way.

My first book, In Place of the Parent: Inside Child Protective Services, describes the child welfare/juvenile court system, how "the system" works, and how it could work better.

In my second book, Build a Better Bridge: Social Policy for the 21st Century, I go beyond child welfare and examine social welfare programs (cash aid, food stamps, etc.). The book offers low-cost/no-cost ideas to reduce poverty, create more affordable housing and child care, and reduce gender inequality in education.

While my first two books are straightforward, my third book, Beyond Amelia Lesser-Known Women of Yesteryear is a fun, easy read. The book was inspired, of all places, by a trip to the History of Diving Museum in Key West, Florida.
