Ronnette Smith-Powell

Ronnette Smith-Powell is a proud wife and mother who has enjoyed teaching for over 25 years. Her love for education began in the city of Newark, NJ, where she was born and grew up. She began her career there teaching first and second grade. She now passionately teaches kindergarten in Willingboro, NJ. In 1995, Ronnette earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Kean University, and in 2013, she earned a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading with an Emphasis in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University.  

Destiny Powell (Ronnette’s daughter/Co-Author/Business partner) is a 6th-grade student who loves to express herself through performing arts and writing. Her parents David and Ronnette work together to cultivate her aspirations.  

Excitement and Creativity flow through their innovative  puppeteering and performing arts company called Nettie, Nana and Friends, LLC. This dynamic team works together to create an educational platform with passion and purpose!

Their performances include shows in character education, social-emotional wellness, biblical principles, African American and Multicultural awareness, and more through electrifying and interactive performances.

Ronnette’s love for children and her ability to give them a voice, along with Destiny’s creativity together have written this wonderful book, Corey Hates Covid. Look for more titles soon to be released by this dedicated and inspiring team of new authors
