Gary LeGault

Gary LeGault is an artist, playwright and filmmaker, whose first comedy, Bravo Isabel!, starred Paulita Sedgwick (Edie's cousin), and was presented at New York's Theater for the New City in 1976. His initial screenplay, Ina and Bruno, was presented on Manhattan Cable Television in 1982. His next motion picture, The Roadsinger, was produced at EZTV in West Hollywood during 1985, followed by the (unreleased) Private Life of Marilyn Monroe in 1987. After a twenty-one year absence, Mr. LeGault returned to movie making with East of the Tar Pits, starring the Warhol film star, Holly Woodlawn, which premiered at the 2008 New York Underground Film Festival. In 2010, he presented his play, Doctor Noguchi, at The Complex in Hollywood, followed by his musical, Wind in the Widows, and a drawing-room farce, Dial 'M' for Marlene, based on an intimate cocktail party, attended by Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe.

Mr. LeGault was also a personal friend of Stonewall Veteran and LGBTQ activist, Marsha P. Johnson, who was a regular guest at his home in New York. Years later, Miss Marsha and the filmmaker would be reunited at his apartment in Los Angeles, where she spent her final night in California during April of 1991, prior to boarding a flight to New York.

Additionally, Mr. LeGault was a close confidant of videographer, Nelson Sullivan, having encouraged him to purchase his first video camera after he had seen LeGault's feature-length motion picture, Ina and Bruno, in 1984. Many of Mr. LeGault's early works as a video artist may be viewed on his Dramamonster channel via YouTube. Comments regarding his new book, Transfigures, may be posted on his Starwalk Press Facebook Business page.

As an artist and photographer, his portraits have appeared in the documentaries, Superstar in a Housedress (2004) by Craig Highberger and Pay it No Mind - Marsha P. Johnson (2012) by Michael Kasino.
