Carol Lansen spent many years employed at advertising agencies working with movie studios and television networks, but always wanted to be a novelist. After a series of stops and starts, she sat down to write Whispering Pines, which is her first novel. She grew up in pastoral Wisconsin surrounded by lakes and forests and farmland, as well as extraordinary (sometimes quirky) people,, many of whom influence her writing. She now lives in Southern California with her rescue dog Oliver, where she is busy working on her next book.
