Raj is a consultant in corporate ethics and responsibility, and a professional Board non-executive director. His background is diversified; his parents fled a civil war zone, and he spent his formative years living in Europe, Africa and Asia. He graduated Engineering, gained his MBA and late completed a PhD in Engineering. Raj first became a project engineer for mining multinationals, a career that took him all over the world for three decades. Early in his career a life-changing corporate scandal prompted him to change focus to responsible business, addressing issues such as human rights, climate change, environmental protection and social equity in Africa, South America, Asia , North America, Europe and Australasia. He has worked as an engineer and executive for two of the largest listed mining companies in the world and one of the largest listed energy companies in Australia.
Raj is married to Dr Rayleigh Joy, a social worker and psychologist, and they have 4 children who live near them in Australia. They are both wildlife enthusiasts and travel regularly around the world.
