James Wells

Jim Wells was raised in Romney, WV and in the Romney Christian Church. He is the son of Johnny and Joyce Wells, and the only brother to four younger sisters, Diane, Lisa, Kelly and Wendy.

He graduated from Hampshire High School in 1974, and studied at Potomac State College, Eastern Christian College, Johnson University (BA, MA) and Emmanuel Christian Seminary. He has held ministries in Wardnesville, WV, Maryville, TN and Nitro, WV.

Jim has served as pastor of Norton Christian Church, Norton VA since 1984, and hosts two radio ministries, “Bright Spots” and “GraceNotes.” He co-edited and co-authored Retreat of the Soul: Reflections on the Contemplative Life by the Bardstown Brothers.

Jim married his college sweetheart, Karen Denise Ward, of Baltimore, MD. They have three children, Katie Estep (Mitch), John (Emily) Wells and James; and eight grandchildren, Megan, Elijah, Mollie, Lucas and Caleb Estep, and Jackson, Angela and Haley Wells.

Jim and Karen are owned by a low-down, good for nothing, rotten dirty dog named Gracie, who cannot be trusted.
