Robert Sterling Herron

Robert Herron is a native of the Pacific Northwest. He is a retired New York City teacher and young adult librarian and was a finalist for New York City Teacher of the Year. He served at FOCCPAC during the Vietnam War. His father was at Pearl Harbor. On September 11, 2001, Herron drove through Harlem beneath the vast dark cloud rising above the World Trade Center to retrieve his son. These experiences helped shape his conviction that history is not simply something to be studied, but to be remembered -- to remember is to act.
