Jeff Ball is a project management specialist with a strong track record in delivery:
- As Project Manager, Jeff has delivered end-to-end IT projects in challenging multi-cultural environments
- As Programme Manager, Jeff managed the worldwide Y2K initiative for NEC Computers
- As PMO manager (office of 7 to 10 people), Jeff secured the success of a complex 2 year ERP programme (10 countries, 2 factories, corporate finance, sales offices...)
Long before the birth of Agile, Jeff Ball explored alternatives to waterfall methods
- In the 80’s, Jeff used rapid prototyping to develop a commodity trading system, used to trade multi-million dollar portfolios in two continents
- In the 90’s, Jeff used timeboxes and MoSCoW prioritisation to manage of the development of a global system, subsequently rolled out to US, Australia and Asia
In 2004, with the arrival of internet software (SAAS), Jeff launched a pioneering software package called TrioProject, to support gate-process methods. TrioProject was used in various sectors (healthcare, construction, chemicals). It was retired in 2013.
Jeff Ball has implemented gate-process methods for several major organisations, including practice-based support to the PM community (methods then training then coaching)
- for NEC Computers, Jeff set up a European IT PMO introducing basic stage gate PM methods
- for Fortis Bank, Jeff transformed a broken implementation of Prince2 and Clarity into a workable, optimised project management process
- for Plaine Commune (Paris area local government) , Jeff created an easy-to-use, well-integrated PM process, based on a highly simplified subset of Prince2, supported by right-sized PM software.
- for Philip Morris International in Lausanne, Jeff created methods for Project and Programme Management, based on the approach of his recent book, Lean3 Project Management
He is a certified trainer on Project Management (Prince2), MSP Programme Management, MoP Portfolio Management, PMOs (P3O) and Agile.
