Mr David Lowrie

I am a gamebook author and illustrator who lives in North Yorkshire, England. After rediscovering my childhood love for gamebooks a few years ago, I spent a long time playing, mapping and immersing myself back into gamebook series such as Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf, Fabled Lands and Way of the Tiger.

Then I decided to try to write a gamebook.

My first gamebook, Jailbreak, was published in March 2020, and is the first part of the Shadow Thief trilogy. It is a cross between Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf, with similar stats to FF, but also varying skills to pick and a continuing story like Lone Wolf. Since then, the second and third parts of the trilogy, Hunted and Heroes, have been released.

I am also the author of the Hellscape series. Book 1, Straight to Hell, was released on 6th June 2020, and it a disturbing journey into Hell, and as a player you have to try to navigate through the various levels of the Hellscape as a mortal. Its more adult, with lots of horrible ways to die. The second part, Devils Right Hand, is due to be published in 2021, with the third part (Edge of Heaven) to follow. The Hellscape series is set in the same world as the Shadow books

I have also written a modern horror gamebook, Psycho Killer (published on 31st October 2020) in which you have to escape from a crazed killer. Its essentially a horror movie in a gamebook, very fast moving, as you try to escape and keep your friends alive. There will be a sequel. Theres always a sequel! Its also being adapted for smart speakers such as Alexa.

Future projects include an open world gamebook called Swords of a Thousand Men and a couple of more CYOA books aimed at younger children.
