Nzinga O. Talbert

Being teased about her appearance welcomed bouts of low self-esteem for a skinny girl with pigtails in Louisiana. Nzinga’s gift for working with children blossomed at a young age. She selflessly placed her feelings of self -esteem on note pads, when she noticed that the children in her neighborhood who were younger than her were also suffering from low self-esteem. As a teenager, she served as an advocate for many children in her neighborhood.

In high school, she spent most of her time in the library. When she was not reading Sweet Valley High books, she was writing poetry. Developing a passion to write and recite poetry kept her alive. Judging from the red marks from her English and literature teachers, becoming an author would be like finding a “needle in a haystack.”

Nzinga earned a BA in Psychology and a MA in Criminal Justice. She worked as an advocate for daycare and mental health agencies. She has served as an enrichment for children, over two decades to present.

She is the facilitator of The Children of God’s Prayer Line. You can find Nzinga spending time with her husband, children, grandson and family. Nzinga also loves to craft, write poetry and plays, plan empowerment events and conferences for youth and adults.
