LiveBeyond is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Christian humanitarian organization that exists to help meet the medical needs of vulnerable and under-served people in the USA and throughout the world. In 2013. Vanderpool, and his wife, Laurie sold their belongings and moved to Thomazeau, Haiti full-time . On the LiveBeyond compound, they have built a church, hospital, school, demonstration farm, and guest house. The LiveBeyond Maternal Health program provides care for thousands of women and children throughout Thomazeau. The LiveBeyond Child Nutrition program presently feeds 3200 children each day.

Born and raised in Texas, Vanderpool earned an undergraduate degree in biology at Abilene Christian University and his medical degree at Texas Tech University School of Medicine. He trained as a general surgeon and completed his surgical residency at Baylor University Medical Center.
