Garicka Jackson

I was Born and raised In Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1997.

In 2010 I picked up the pen and found a peace of heaven.

I was going through hell at 11 and 12, no one ever noticed because I hid it well.

I was too closed off to communicate, so writing became my way to escape.

At age 13 my English teacher submitted my work without my knowledge and I promise I could have cursed when received a letter saying,

“Congratulations Miss Garicka Jackson! You have placed in first”.

At age 16 I was sitting in computer class and my mind began to drift,

so I pulled up Microsoft word and on the screen my thoughts began to drip.

A friend of mine peaked over my shoulder and began to read my words,

She said that’s exactly how she feels and my thoughts were practically hers.

At age 21 I challenged myself to break my shell,

and share with everyone the things I had to tell.

I performed my poetry at an open mic night and the way I spoke those words you could never tell that I was ever shy.

At an age 22, I performed again twice in one year even hosted my own event, I was conquering fear.

At age 23 I have hosted several shows, sharing my work with the world and accomplishing goals.

Before 2020 ended I needed to accomplish another goal,

and that was to write a book.
