José Espinal Marcelo
He was born in Santiago de los Caballeros on April 12, 1972. His parents are Ramón Antonio Espinal Rodríguez and Reyna de Los Ángeles Marcelo. At the age of 11, he joined the children's group of Choral Poetry "16 de Abril", founded in the municipality of Navarrete. In 1986 he created the theater company "TEAMAGO" (Máximo Gómez theater), of which he was director for six years.
He was part of the literary workshop of the Juan Pablo Duarte Club in Navarrete, which he abandoned due to political and social commitments. In the ’90s, after the death of his father, he rejoined the art and artistic and cultural environment of the Santiago province. During this period he founded, together with fifty artists from the Cibao region, the Alternative Cultural Circle "CIRCULA", which he directed. He also founded and directed the Choral Poetry group of the Regional University Center of Santiago (CURSA), currently the Santiago Campus of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).
Also, he has stood out as a cultural manager, organizing cultural and social activities and events in different areas of the Dominican territory and abroad. He has also collaborated with articles for different media, both Dominican and foreign, among which stand out: Prensa Latina, ADITAL, La Información, La Noticia, Nuevo Diario, among others.
He has been an international exhibitor. Among these countries that he has visited as a speaker, the following stand out: Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Panama, Argentina, Uruguay, and Puerto Rico.
