I am a living example that life begins after fifty. I am busy, busy, busy. My zeal for life is contagious. When not hiking or golfing, I split my time pursuing my other greatest passions – writing and travelling. With the current pandemic situation, my travelling is limited to camping at locations near my home. I live on the west coast of Canada, with the two loves of my life, my husband and dog. You can learn more about the two of them on my Instagram and Facebook pages.
I've always loved to write. It's been a passion of mine since I was in high school. At that time, I wrote poetry and song lyrics, which I still do on occasion. I've written a few children's books and travel blogs, but they are unpublished. Now that I have a website and three blog pages, maybe I'll start a travel blog as well.
To You, From Me is my first novel. It began as an idea in my book club. One of the women in the group suggested that we write a romance novel together. We left that meeting with a homework assignment. By the time the next meeting rolled around, I was the only member who had completed the work. I had finished Chapter One and was on my way.
Writing a novel was a fascinating endeavour for me. I was working full-time with a home to maintain and a husband to keep. My book turned into a nightly escape. I was disciplined in my writing effort and made sure that I wrote every night for at least an hour. My husband and I would have supper, go for a walk and then I would sit down at my computer for the evening. Sometimes the writing session turned into three or four hours, and periodically I just reread what I had already written, planning and outlining my next steps.
The process was fascinating to me. I loved it. I could hardly wait to sit down each night and see what was going to happen next. I fell in love with my characters, and writing about them each night was like having a daily visit with my best friends. It was so much fun.
It took me about six months to complete my novel. Then my manuscript lay tucked away in the bottom of my drawer for about four years. I finally decided that I should haul it out, dust it off and publish it. That was a long journey in itself. As a self-published author, editing was difficult and time-consuming. It took me a long time to get to the final stages of editing. I've never read one novel so many times as I have this one. I finally came up with the print-ready version, and here it is for you to enjoy. I'm delighted to share it with you. I hope you love it as much as I do. Prepare to be entertained and to fall in love.
To You, From Me is available in ebook, paperback and hardcover. Feel free to contact me here on Amazon or any of my other social media platforms. I'd love to hear from you.
