The dedication at the front of "The Sweetness of Venus. A History of the Clitoris" reads, "For all those who have one, or the opportunity to engage with one." And I really did write this book for you. I love the problem solving aspect of writing a book ... What is my story? How am I going to tell it? Who are my readers? What do they know already? How can I write in a way that is engaging for them? Will they find this funny? I am never lonely when I write because of the idea of readers. Without readers a book is nothing, so I hope you like it.

I wrote "Sweetness" after a move from the UK to Chicago in 2016. I had always wanted to write, but with this project my love of reading, teaching, research, humor, libraries, high and low culture and writing coalesced.
I studied at Durham University, the University of London and Warwick University in the UK and am a guest researcher at Loyola University in Chicago.
I'd love to hear from you.
