Douglas J Noble is a music journalist, guitar instructor, musician and music examiner based in Edinburgh, Scotland. ‘Begin Guitar’ (2005; 'crisp, lucid and helpful', The Guitar Magazine) draws together much of his self-penned tuition material which was ‘road tested’ on his pupils – some of whom have gone on to become professional musicians.
Other books include 'Instant Hendrix' (1988; 'highly rated', Making Music), 'Instant Peter Green' (1990; 'a worthy effort', Guitarist) and the the co-authoring of 'Jimi Hendrix: The Man, The Music, The Memorabilia' (1996; Dragon's World) with renowned Hendrix expert Caesar Glebbeek.
Douglas has contributed interviews, transcriptions, technical analysis ('a brilliant technical column', Record Collector) and lessons to numerous guitar magazines, and has also contributed to many music books. Other journalism work includes writing sleeve notes for CDs ('wondrously notated rock musicology', Q), and contributing to DVDs and BBC Radio.
