When I was a kid I loved reading comics, especially Peanuts. I also loved watching cartoons on tv like Underdog, Bugs Bunny and Popeye. I usually had a drawing pad in my lap, and I liked to make up my own comics, which usually had some kind of monster in them, or robots. I always wondered if I could get a job drawing comic strips or making cool cartoons like what I saw on tv. When I got older I moved to San Francisco and got a job at Colossal Pictures as an animation production artist. I eventually became a Character Designer and got to work on fun projects like creating characters for the Disney Channel called Zoogs. I later moved to LA and created a pilot for Nickelodeon and a kid's web series for Peacock Kids (DreamWorks TV) called Public Pool that has since garnered 2 million views. One day at the beach I got the idea for Catch the Munchies! I saw a young boy eating a Happy Meal and wondered what would happen if he tossed a fry into the ocean and a sea monster swallowed it. The story just sort of rolled out from there. Pixel + Ink loved my book pitch and said they not only wanted to publish it but also turn it into a Carlton Crumple Creature Catcher book series! Zinga! Wahinga! Onion Ringa! I am now super grateful to be living my other dream of making funny comic stories for kids. I hope my books inspire kids to read more, write and create their own comics and stories. Book 3: Reptoids from Space! is coming Oct. 5. Zap!
