Writing a book at 70 years old has its drawbacks, but also there are some benefits. Over the years, I have experienced many things. It is difficult if not impossible to prevent from sharing some of those experiences and passing on a little wisdom along the way. Although Kleinpell Nipkin was brought to life when I was a young father, he has become a little wiser as the years have passed. Personal failures, the trials of life, and picking ones self up by grasping the outstretched hand of God has had an affect no doubt.
Also, the experiences I have had fighting wildland fires, climbing 200 foot Douglas fir trees, farming, working as a building contractor, and 27 years as an air pollution control inspector/supervisor has potentially added some depth. At any rate, I am sure this book is a bit different than if I had written it as a young father. Enjoy. Perhaps my children or grandchildren will take up the torch and continue Kleinpell's adventures?
