Marenda Taylor

Marenda Hughes is a Compton-born author, strategist, breast-cancer survivor, caregiver and creator of Color With Marenda.

Her books explore survivorship, identity, creativity, rest, advocacy and the experiences of women rebuilding life after unexpected change. She created Fight Like a Grown Ass Woman following her diagnosis with triple-negative breast cancer at age 39. Her newer coloring books give women a creative place to slow down, focus and make time for themselves.

Marenda is BRCA1-positive and received the Roslyn and Leslie Goldstein Unsung Hero Award during the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s 2024 Hot Pink Party. She is also a flight attendant and communications professional.
