Kathleen M Barrett

Kathleen (Kathy) Barrett has been a writer and journalist for four decades. Beginning at the age of eighteen, she produced an award-winning speech for a family friend pursuing a national position in a prominent military-oriented organization. In the years following, as she raised two children, writing feature and news articles for various community newspapers fanned the flame for the craft. Assignments included her weekly column in one publication.

In 1998, involvement in her church women’s group led her to self-publish a poetry and prayer journal entitled, Pearls to Adorn Your Heart. She was also active in her local community as a preschool teacher at a private Christian school and in her neighborhood as a children’s summer recreation director. Her love of children led her to publish Jubilee Journal – A Prayer Journal and Devotional for Young Prayer Warriors in 2002.

Kathleen has been a speaker and teacher at women’s conferences throughout her writing journey. She has written and presented topical bible studies and was a guest on television and radio programs.

In 2018, she was honored to co-author a pictorial with Israeli aerial photographer Ron Gafni. The full-color album of the Holy Land, entitled Israel God’s Heart, was featured at the Christian Booksellers Association convention in the same year.

Celebrating a personal banner year in 2020, she completed and published her first children’s fiction, For the Love of Big Balooka, which ranked #1 three times in New Releases of Other Children’s Fiction in October on Amazon. She is a proud recipient of this book's 2021 Story Monster Approved seal.

In 2021 she created Books & Blogs for Spirit & Soul at https://kathybarrettwrites.com/home. Featured is a For Kids-by-Kids section. While the children can enjoy book reviews, the child-at-heart will be encouraged by the blog posts, often humorous but inspiring others to emotional and spiritual growth.

Currently, she is pursuing an Associate Degree in Christian Studies at Regent University to enhance her knowledge and love of scripture to share with her readers. Her column "Leaving a Godly Legacy" appears in Voice of Truth quarterly magazine.

She treasures her 53-year marriage to her husband, Dennis. They have two children, Danielle and Michael, a son and daughter-in-love, and five brilliant grandchildren – three girls and two boys. Kathleen and Dennis’s home in South Florida is a joyful landing spot on Sunday afternoons for the crew.
