Michael Farrell

Author and freelance writer Michael Farrell was born in Buffalo, New York, raised in nearby Hamburg, and got his professional start in Boston, Massachusetts in the early 2000s.

He is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University (B.A., Journalism) and Pine Manor College (M.F.A., Creative Writing), and his work has appeared in such publications as Buffalo Spree, Western New York Craft Beer Magazine, Block Club, and The Boston Herald, where he worked as a reporter from 2004 to 2011. Since 2013, he's appeared regularly in The Buffalo News and Buffalo Magazine, filing features and reviews on bars, music and nightlife happening across western New York.

His debut novel, Running with Buffalo, was first released in 2007, then re-published by No Frills/Amelia in 2013. Two years later, the same publisher released Farrell's second novel, When the Lights Go Out.
