Gary Gabel

Gary Gabel is the author of two books. Personal Takeover was originally published by Career Press in 2003. The second edition was released in 2019. Day One is a novel co-written with Tom Buck and published in 2020.

Some Highlights from Gary's past:

• Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2001 for Michigan Service Companies

• Founder and CEO of Great Lakes Strategies, a 120 person benefits consulting and administration firm headquartered in Birmingham, Michigan, until 2003

• Co-founder and Partner in Allecon, LLC, a stock administration firm, until 2008.

• Co-founder and Partner in Infinite Learning, a training company.

• Former head of Training and Development for Comerica, Inc.

• Past Chair of the National Council on Education and Human Development at The George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

• President of Schoolcraft College Foundation Board of Governors from July, 2013 to July, 2015. Currently serve as an Emeritus Governor.

• Published articles include “From Victim to Self-Empowerment,” in the Journal of High-Performance Teams, August 1998.

• Gary’s book, Personal Takeover, was published in the United States by Career Press in 2003. It was translated to Korean in 2004, with Arabic translation in 2005. Personal Takeover, 2nd Edition, was released in October, 2019.

• Current Memberships: Oakland Schools Education Foundation Board of Trustees and Mensa.

Gary has spoken to groups throughout the United States on the subjects of personal takeover, accountability and leadership. He has personally trained thousands of people, primarily in the areas of leadership, management, motivating performance, presentation effectiveness, sales and customer service. He has worked with over 200 CEOs, helping them build high-performing teams.

Gary has an A.A. from Schoolcraft College, a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan, an M.A. in Economics from the University of Detroit, and a Doctorate in Human Resource Development from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
