Mamta Malhotra is originally from London, U.K. She was born and
brought up there. She did her schooling in Brentwood County High
School, Brentwood, Essex, then Frances Bardsley High School, Romford,
where she did her O Levels and A levels. Then she moved on to study
gemology at the Gemological Institute of America, GIA, for Gemology in
Santa Monica, Los Angeles, California, USA. She graduated as a Graduate
Gemologist and Jewellery Designer. She then continued on her journey to
New Delhi, India, where she formed her Jewellery Company called
JEWELS AMORE.
She first had her shop at the famous mall 1 MG, which got
knocked down in 2006. She went on to open her shop at the Crescent
Mall, Lado Sarai, opposite the Qutab Minar. Mamta did very well at this
mall too, she had good clients, who bought jewellery from her regularly.
Mamta has regularly had exhibitions. She has had various exhibitions in
Delhi and has also travelled for exhibitions from Ludhiana, Bangalore,
Pune and Mumbai in India and abroad in London and Dubai.
Mamta has walked the ramp for various designers like Suneet
Varma and Meera Muzaffar Ali, always for a charity such as cancer. She
also had a company in London called LOVE FOR JEWELS where she
supplied jewellery to Selfridges and many smaller boutique shops like
GURU, CHOICE, LUCY IN THE SKY, all in famous malls and high streets in
London. Her new project has recently been with the world famous artist
S.H. RAZA, where she got inspired by his art to design signature pieces of
jewellery. In 2008 she went to meet Raza Sahib in Paris, where he was
living at that time. He agreed to do this collection of jewellery art with
her. He had already made the paintings, and each piece was made as a
pendant, signed by him with a laser pen, and each piece had its own
certificate, again signed by Raza Sahib and Mamta Malhotra. This was a
very unique project done as a collaboration between Mamta Malhotra
and S.H. Raza. This collection of jewellery inspired by art was also termed
as a limited edition as it was so unique. Mamta also made certificates for
each piece of jewellery and also coded each piece of jewellery. Another
name for the collection was Illumination. It was shown on television, on a
programme called P7. Most of the pieces were priced at a MRP of
between 1-5 lakh rupees. Sadly Raza Sahib passed away on 23rd July
2016.
Mamta’s future journey looks possible with her new book with
Vijay Vishal Kapur called MARITAL JUICE. It’s another creative journey.
She is also planning to get into supplying jewellery all over Europe and
the USA. She has had a journey of very creative work such as jewellery designing, interior design and any other design work. Mamta has an eye
for design and is artistic and creative. Mamta has been through difficult
marriages, and now wants to stick to creativity with a lot of colour, which
is normally her style. She gets attracted to beautiful colours. She also
worked with Raseel Gujral for Casa Pop, where she designed beautiful,
unusual, very high- end costume jewellery for Casa Pop sold under
Mamta’s label for Casa Pop. She is enthusiastically doing up her new
apartment with a lot of colour to create happiness in her life.
