Chris Kappler

Chris' early career was spent designing chips for networking and computer graphics at a series of companies in the Boston area. More recently, he has worked as a software engineer and as a manager in Facebook's Traffic team, which is responsible for a planetary scale network that carries photos, videos, games, and chat messages to nearly 3 billion people around the world.

The concept for "The Ghost of Sphinx" came from a lecture at Brandeis University, and Chris spent the following two years researching dark matter, asteroids, relativity, and the psychology of surviving in space. The events are set in the near future, and no laws of physics were harmed in the making of the story :)

Chris grew up in Amsterdam, New York and went to Syracuse University, the high point of which was meeting his wife Michelle in a local Wegmans. Though Chris and Michelle have resided in the Boston area since 1994, they did spend one formative year living and working in Paris, France.
