Ann Wuehler

A native Oregonian with ambitions and apparently a need to see more of the planet than a few feet beyond her back yard. I received my BA in Theatre from Eastern Oregon University and my MFA in Playwriting from the University of Nevada/Las Vegas. I've had plays done from Iceland to Australia and have been published, in Ten Ten Minute Plays Volume 2 and 3-- the Next Mrs. Jacob Anderson and the Care and Feeding of Baby Birds. My world travels have so far included Thailand and China, where I spent two years teaching in the Yucai School, International Section, Shenyang, in the Liaoning Province. [ A job I acquired from perusing the jobs section on the Boise Craigslist, by the way. ]

My short play, Traces of Memory, has been adapted into many short films, most notably by Joseph Culp, under the name Traces and yet another version, directed by Jody Jaress, under Traces of Memory. Another short play of mine, the Next Mrs. Jacob Andersen, also got the fancy film adaptation and a fancy Los Angeles premier, directed by Dennis LaValle. And I am pleased to add my full-length play, Beatrice and the Puppies, was produced at the Overtime Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, September of 2014. I also just got a poem of mine, On Leaving Maryland, included in an autumn showcase somewhere in the UK, as well as a poetry competition in Los Angeles, ZZyZx Poetrypalooza. And yet more Wuehler news-- I recently signed a contract with Kensington Gore Publishing, fun fun fun! I've also gotten my Mating Season of Flying Monkeys into the Schreiber Shorts 2015 Freedom Festival and my Bluegrass of God into Mind Your Head Theatre's SCRIBBLE: Welfare. City Works, in Miami, Florida, also liked my Mating Season of Flying monkeys piece-- they've published it in their 2015 anthology. And!! My book, OREGON GOTHIC, debuted June 4th, 2015. THE HOUSE ON CLARK BOULEVARD was published September of 2017. Manhattan Rep did a production of my Interviews With Loneliness, as part of Winter One Act Play Festival in January 2015. Running from July 10-16, 2016, the Women's Theatre Festival of Memphis, in the Hattiloo Theatre, will present two of my shorter plays-- Mating Season of Flying Monkeys and The Care and Feeding of Baby Birds. Horour Siguroarson, of Leikfelag Kopavogs theatre in Iceland, will produce my Care and Feeding of Baby Birds this May, and produced Traces of Memory in 2014, both plays have been translated into Icelandic. Pigs Do Fly productions, Florida, included my Mating Season of Flying Monkeys in their Curly Tales span of evenings. Island Theatre Workshop, Martha's Vineyard, November 2015, produced both Mating Season of Flying Monkeys and The Next Mrs. Jacob Anderson. The Bisbee Women's Review, Bisbee, Arizona, under Bisbee Obscure Productions, in March 2014, put on The Mating Season of Flying Monkeys. I've also been contacted recently by Hamilton-Gibson productions, Canada, possibly for either Mating Season of Flying Monkeys, Traces of Memory or The Next Mrs. Jacob Anderson, for an October showcase. Mating Season of Flying Monkeys was also included in the Winter edition of the Santa Ana River Review, 2017. My poem, Mint in Pots, was selected for August by Rattle. My short story, Maybelle, was included in Whistle Pig's Volume 9, 2017. An evening of my short plays will be featured September 6-9, 2018, by the Ilkley Playhouse in the UK.

A short story, Bunny Slipper, will be included in Whistle Pig's Volume 10, 2018. Whistle Pig has also published Greenhorn, and Pearlie at the Gates of Dawn.
