I am a creative writer with a technical bent! I love to write stories using controlled vocabulary as supplied in the Learn Reading lessons by reading and dyslexia specialist, April McMurtrey of California. I was provided with a tiny puddle of words for Lesson 1 and more and more words were added with each subsequent lesson, all the way up to 80. With each increase, I could feel my language wings grow and soon I could fly! It was such an amazing experience that I am sure is mirrored in the progress of the Learn Reading students as they learn to read. I am also a qualified, but non-practising, attorney and am planning to return to law school in 2021 in order that I can eventually practise law in Australia. I do, however, plan to keep up with my creative writing.
