Dr. Hammes has a doctorate in learning and developmental psychology, was an adjunct college professor for forty-three years, and a management and employee development consultant for thirty years.
Dr. Hammes was president of Hammes and Associates, a management and human resource consulting firm located in metropolitan Chicago Illinois. The company was in the consulting business for more than twenty-five years and had a strong presence in metropolitan Chicago and the mid-west, with companies ranging from start-up to Fortune 100. The firm also worked with many companies headquartered in other areas of the country and Canada. Regardless of the size of the company, Hammes and Associates’ services made a positive impact and were invaluable for enhancing individual and company performance.
Dr. Hammes, is an industrial psychologist with extensive experience in management and human resource consulting. Prior to transitioning to corporate consulting in the early 1980’s, Dr. Hammes was a clinician and manager for thirteen years in the public and private sectors of the mental health care industry. He brought a wealth of experience in managing, consulting, coaching, training, assessment, group facilitation and performance management.
Hammes and Associates provided services in an array of management and human resource areas including executive search, objective testing, interview training, career development, succession planning assessments, performance appraisal, management coaching, team building, employee surveys, outplacement, candidate screening and general administration.

• More than twenty-five years of experience providing objective assessments for candidate selection/promotion, succession planning and career development, leadership/management coaching and consulting, performance management, personal development, meetings management, outplacement, career development and other management and human resource services and programs.
• More than thirteen years of clinical and management experience.
• Development of several proprietary manuals focused on career development, management skills, leadership skills, communication/team functioning, leadership coaching, change management, performance appraisal/management, meetings management, and interview training for managers.

• Author of numerous articles on management, leadership and employee development.
• In addition to developing his consulting firm, he taught industrial and other psychology courses at several Chicago area community colleges for more than 40 years.
• Served on several Boards some as an officer including the Barrington Chamber of Commerce, Barrington Area Council on Aging and the Elgin Historical Society, Elgin Development Advisory Council and, of course, founded the Liberal Men of the Lowcountry.
• Volunteer at Volunteers in Medicine, MOMS Demand Action and Hopeful Horizons and in the past at Women in Need of Growing Stronger in Chicago.
• Ran for political office three times (city council, state senator and congress in Illinois), but not elected. Considered running against Jeff Bradley, but it is a time consuming commitment.
